May's word cloud of the top ten Fiction books that were checked out. The bigger
the title is in the word cloud the more it was checked out! Also a friendly reminder that all books are due back Friday!
Thought I would try something new and make a word cloud of the top ten books that were checked out in April. A couple tied so it became the top twelve books. The bigger the title is in the word cloud the more it was checked out!

Teen Tech week is wrapping up and Spring Break is about to begin so I thought I would leave you with some reading ideas to take with you where ever you may travel...even if it is just to the couch.
Outlaw by, Stephen Davies. The children of Britain's
ambassador to Burkina Faso, fifteen-year-old Jake, who loves technology
and adventure, and thirteen-year-old Kas, a budding social activist, are
abducted and spend time in the Sahara desert with Yakuuba Sor, who some
call a terrorist but others consider a modern-day Robin Hood.
Cyberia by, Chris Lynch. In a future where electronic
surveillance has taken the place of love, a veterinarian is putting
computer chips in animals to control them, and those creatures choose
young Zane, who understands their speech, to release captives and bring
them to a technology-free safety zone.
Fever Crumb by, Philip Reeve. Foundling Fever Crumb has been
raised as an engineer although females in the future London, England,
are not believed capable of rational thought, but at age fourteen she
leaves her sheltered world and begins to learn startling truths about
her past while facing danger in the present.
Teen Tech Week is a great time to think about how technology influences your life. For good or bad technology is everywhere these days and its important to make smart decisions when using it. So the next time you turn on a computer or send a text on your phone think about what your digital life looks like.
Saturday March 2nd was Dr. Seuss' Birthday. It's a time when people everywhere celebrate reading. So take some time out today to celebrate by grabbing a good book, magazine, newspaper, graphic novel, just about anything that will get you reading!
I've always liked taking those goofy quizzes in magazines; you know the one's where you answer questions to see what kind of animal you would be or what style of clothes best describes you. This is a fun quiz that will give you an idea about what genres you might like to read. So grab some scrap paper and a pencil and give it a try!
(If you need to see the slides bigger you can click full screen)
Genre is a good way to figure out what to read next. It's a way to group books that have similar qualities. Here's a little slideshow to help you review.
Coming soon a fun quiz to help you figure out what genre you might like best!
It's a new year and I hope that you have taken a chance to check out the new books that are out on display. Lots of good reads to choose from. Maybe you made a New Year's resolution to read more in 2013 but you aren't sure where to start. Why not Read Across the U.S. I found this poster on Pinterest and thought it was a good solution for helping you keep reading through out the year.
